Food Feedback Friday: pitiful pizza, luxurious lobster

Well folks, it’s that time again. Where we all kick back and reflect on the events that flavored the Arkansas food community this week. Speaking on a personal level, it’s been a week of highs and lows. Without going into any of the gritty details, it’s more clear to me now than ever before that our culinary landscape is dynamic and alive, filled with passionate individuals with honest opinions, strong words, humble humanitarians, and fiery tempers. Whether we’re consumers or producers, diners or chefs, we all play a role in what our food culture is and will become.

Friday, of course, means it’s time for your feedback. Who’s been tickling your taste buds this week? We’d love to hear about it. Last weeks FFF was one of the finest we’ve seen since this column’s inception. What did we discuss? There was some praise for the pork shoulder sliders from Natchez, duck ham from HAM, pulled pork from Whole Hog, cheese steak from Philly’s food cart, cannoli from Mason’s Deli in the River Market, and a roast beef po’ boy from Maddie’s Place. Michael gave us a spectacular impromptu review of Shotgun Dan’s and managed to work in references to Donald Trump, IKEA, and “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida” all within one poignant piece. Lastly, we discussed the merits of an $18 “lobster burger” being featured at Big Orange (which I’m still determined to try) and unanimously concluded that we need some decent lobster rolls here in Little Rock.

Your turn. Dish.
