The new Children's Library and Learning Center is hosting an exhibit of some 50 photographs by six pre-teens and teens whose lives have been impacted by having a parent in prison or immigration detainment, an event that is the capstone project of Maggie Carroll of the Clinton School for Public Service in partnership with the non-profit Arkansas Voices for the Children Left Behind.
There will be a reception from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 6; children who participated will talk about their photographs. The project was designed to give the children a form of expression and as a demonstration that they are valued in the community. The photo reminded me of Linda Palmer's drawings that have been touring the state in the "Champion Trees" exhibition; the light falling on the top of the tree makes it a splendid photo. Congratulations to the young photographer who made it.
The Children's Library is at 4800 W. 10th St., off Jonesboro Drive.
