I've mentioned before that Arkansas native Chad Griffin, head of the Human Rights Campaign, the country's leading gay rights organization, will speak at the Clinton school at noon Monday. He'll be intervewed by former state Rep. Kathy Webb on the changing landscape for marriage equality, thanks to changing national opinions and recent U.S. Supreme Court rulings.

Griffin is expected to release some new polling on attitudes in Arkansas. I'd be surprised to see a majority favoring gay "marriage," though a majority might be open to civil unions. But I'd also be surprised if the numbers haven't improved dramatically since Arkansas voters imposed a ban on marriage of gay couples in 2004 by a 75 percent vote.

The HRC is also circulating an invitation to a free reception for the LGBT community and its allies from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Arkansas Arts Center. Griffin will speak. Drinks and snacks will be provided. You can RSVP here.
