In case you missed it: Leslie Peacock talked with Bob Hupp last week for an article on Rock Candy about the Arkansas Repertory Theatre's work to create new educational space in the historic former retail building on the northwest corner of Sixth and Main (the Rep is on the southeast corner).
A drive to raise money for the work is underway. Check it out and think about pitching in. Get some season tickets for The Rep while you're at it. Its consistent production of quality theater is a highlight of the city's cultural life.
The Rep is but one of several arts institutions planning use of space along Main, suddenly busy with work on apartment and mixed-used developments after years of dreaming such might take place. Fingers crossed here. But looming, literally, over it all at 7th and Main is the forlorn Donaghey Building, the city's earliest skyscraper. It needs an idea. Not to mention capital.
