More positive news on the redevelopment of downtown Little Rock as a residential neighborhood.
Moses Tucker Real Estate announces today plans to build an 84-unit, $13 million apartment project on Capitol Avenue on the site of the old Arkla gas headquarters building. It is to open by spring 2015.
The building has been occupied recently by state Office of Child Support Enforcement, which soon will move to occupy a major portion of the new Mann on Main projected developed by Moses-Tucker at 4th and Main.
Here's a release on the project.
The MacArthur Commons will include secured parking and a balcony for each apartment. It will bring to 400 the number of housing units the firm has created downtown.
The apartment project will occupy the south half of the block. The news release says announcement of a project for the north half of the block, fronting on Fourth Street, will be coming soon. There's been previous buzz about another hotel on that block, perhaps a boutique-style hotel to fit with the expanding lineup of the McKibbon Hotel Group, which has three other hotels nearby, the Marriott Courtyard, a Hampton Inn and the new Residence Inn.
